What it is

An Add-to-FollowFollow link lets a person send a reminder from your app, website, calendar, email, QR code or Shortcut straight into FollowFollow, where it will be spoken out loud when it's time. It's just a link. No account, no API key, no SDK, no approval from us.

1 · YouPut an "Add to FollowFollow" link or button next to anything with a date: an appointment, a delivery, a class, a bill, a medication schedule.
2 · The userTaps it on their iPhone. FollowFollow opens and shows exactly what you sent: title, time, repeat, place, the words to be spoken.
3 · ConfirmNothing is added until the user taps Add. Then FollowFollow schedules it and speaks it at the right moment, even offline.

If FollowFollow isn't installed, the same link opens a web page that shows the reminder and offers the App Store. On Android and desktop it shows that page too (FollowFollow is an iPhone app).

In an iOS app (Swift). Use the https:// link: it opens FollowFollow when installed and the web page when not, with no setup in your app:

Inside apps you may also use followfollow://add?… with the same parameters (it only works when FollowFollow is installed).

Parameters

All values are URL-encoded. Everything a FollowFollow share can carry is supported, except files (photos and voice memos can't travel in a link).

atExact date and time, ISO 8601 with a time zone offset or Z: 2026-10-20T15:00:00-05:00. Shown to the user in their own time zone.
repeatdaily, weekly, monthly or yearly.
daysFor weekly: mon,wed,fri (or 1–7, 1 = Sunday). Days alone imply weekly.
messageThe exact words FollowFollow will say out loud, up to 300 characters. Without it, FollowFollow writes a friendly message itself. Always shown to the user before adding.
placeA place name, up to 120 characters.
addressA street address, up to 300 characters. Looked up on the phone when no coordinates are given.
lat, lngCoordinates in decimal degrees.
categoryhome, office, restaurant, shop, parking, scenicspot, item, idea, other.
typeplace saves only the place (needs place, address or coordinates), with no reminder.
noteExtra details, up to 500 characters.
sourceYour product's name, shown to the user as "From …", up to 60 characters.

Unknown parameters are ignored. Over-long values are cut. Unreadable dates or coordinates are dropped and the rest still works.

The button

You may use this button image unchanged to point to an Add-to-FollowFollow link. Please don't alter it, recolor it, or use the FollowFollow name or logo in a way that suggests we made, sponsor or endorse your product. A plain text link ("Add to FollowFollow") is fine too.

Where it fits

  • Calendars and booking tools: put the link in the event description or confirmation screen, with at set to the event time.
  • Emails and texts: "Add this to FollowFollow" next to the date of a delivery, bill or appointment.
  • Printed or on-screen QR codes: encode the link; scanning it opens the confirmation in FollowFollow.
  • Apple Shortcuts and automations: open the URL as the last step.
  • Health and care apps: medication schedules with repeat=daily and a gentle message.

Good to know

  • Always confirmed. FollowFollow never adds anything without the user tapping Add. There's no way to add silently, and we won't offer one.
  • Nothing reaches our servers from your link. The link opens on the user's phone; reminder content stays there. (If a link is opened in a web browser rather than in the app, our web host's standard logs may contain the link; see the Privacy Policy.)
  • Plan limits apply. Reminders added by link count toward the user's own FollowFollow plan, like any other reminder.
  • Don't put sensitive information in links. Links are visible in browser history, logs and shared screens. No health details beyond what's needed, no passwords, no payment data, no government IDs.
  • No spam. Create links in response to something the user did or asked for. Don't generate them in bulk or trick people into tapping.
  • iPhone only, iOS 17 or later. The format may gain new optional parameters; existing ones will keep working.
